Explore how astronomers and astrophysicists are detecting these distant worlds. This fascinating program also includes a live sky tour of the current night sky featuring bright stars, planets, and constellations.  Return to Homepage

Egyptian Sky Lore
For almost 5,000 years the pyramids of Egypt have stood guard near the banks of the Nile River. To build such a timeless monument, this civilization had to be resourceful, clever, determined, and driven. What drove them to build such massive and imposing monuments? They were built by a civilization that was very aware of the heavens, and the pyramids reflect this. The rising of the Sun and Moon, and the passage of the stars all featured prominently in their daily lives. Celebrate the incredible achievements of the early Egyptians in measuring the length of the year and predicting exactly how the Sun and Moon move in the sky.  Return to Homepage
